Novi Sad, Serbia – March 26, 2018 – HbbTV Association, a global initiative dedicated to providing an open standard for the delivery of broadcast and broadband services through connected TVs and set-top boxes, has chosen RT-RK as a supplier of OpApp Test Cases.
HbbTV Association has published Specification for Operator Applications (http://www.hbbtv.org/news-events/hbbtv-association-publishes-specification-for-operator-applications/). The specification allows TV operators, in partnership with TV manufacturers, to provide an operator-branded experience as an application on TVs, essentially acting as a ‘virtual set-top box’.
Following the publication of Specification, HbbTV Association has issued the RFP for development of Operator Applications Test Cases. RT-RK has been chosen as a supplier for a significant portion of OpApp Test Cases. The planned delivery of these tests will target the next HbbTV Test Suite release which is scheduled for mid-2018.
Dejan Stefanovic, head of HbbTV R&D in RT-RK and newly selected vice-chair of the HbbTV testing group stated:
“RT-RK is proud to be recognized by HbbTV association as valuable partner and chosen as one of suppliers of the tests for Operator Applications. We are excited to have a chance to work on emerging new technology such as OpApp, which brings TV manufacturers and TV operators one step closer to each other. Our HbbTV testing solution ‘RT-Harness’ will follow this momentum and it will bring support for OpApp tests in time for next scheduled HbbTV test suite release.”
